As I embark on my Presidential journey for the Rotary Year 2007-08, may I take a moment of your time to share my thoughts and ideas with you on how we wish to steer our Club to attain common goals and objectives for this period.
WORD OF THANKS
A very warm welcome to all present and thank you for having the confidence and electing me as the President of this fine and event-filled Club which has a commendable record of achievements in executing “Service Above Self” projects.
THEME FOR ROTARY YEAR 2007-08
The theme “ROTARY SHARES” for 2007-98 is a reminder of what ordinary people can accomplish through the extraordinary work of Rotary.
To quote RI – President – elect Wilfrid J. Wilkinson :
“What makes Rotary great is our expressing the love in our hearts through the work of our hands and our minds. As Rotarians, we don’t just sit back and talk about loving other human beings. As Rotarians, we demonstrate that love, and we share that love, through helping each
other.
Almost everything Rotary does involves sharing.
We share our time, we share our talents, and we share our money with others who need our help.
Sharing means giving of yourself selflessly for the good of others.”
His concluding remarks when unveiling his theme at the International Assembly were:
“I ask you all, this year, to share Rotary freely and fully, work hard, and work with love. And remember that everything you do in service to others is part of the magic of Rotary, the magic that allows ordinary people, like you and me, do absolutely amazing things.
COMMITMENT TO SERVE
I must place on record my utmost gratitude to the members of the Board of Directors who, true to their calling, have magnanimously agreed to volunteer their time and efforts to serve this Club to reach greater heights.
Rest assured, you have my commitment to continue to serve in line with our motto “Service Above Self”.
