PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

continued from previous week...

CHALLENGES

My primary challenge, at this juncture, is to take a closer view of the ‘state of our club’. We hope to embark on an “intrinsic re-examination” of our Club in order to consolidate our multifarious activities & projects, finances, members’ involvement and participation.

To achieve these goals, we hope to create awareness in the following areas:

Attendance at Meetings
Members are to be encouraged to attend the regular weekly meetings.
Service Avenue Meetings will be on a “needs basis’ rather than the present mode of “mandatory monthly hostings”.
Fellowships
Emphasis will be on Total Club Involvement (i.e. with families) on a cost-effective, value for money basis.
Cruises, Vacations, Family Outings, Dinners, etc. will be organized.
Membership
More than a theme, “Rotary Shares” will be a call for action for ‘smart partnerships’ and collaboration to synergize our efforts.
Share Rotary with our Youth and Others, irrespective of race, colour, creed and gender; and in that process invite them to join our club.
It is envisaged that with the inclusion of new members, and thus the infusion of new blood, there will be fresh contribution of vigour and zeal which will augur well for the growth & development of our club.
Finance
A committed and focused fund-raising committee to be instituted to raise funds by organizing projects (not more than two) in order to finance our activities.
The projects, hopefully, are to be designed such as to cater to the total involvement and participation of all members.
Other major issues
As they arise, they are to be tackled promptly and dealt with absolute transparency.

Being the case, I propose that the order of priority for our activities and projects to be in the following order:

Club
Petaling Jaya Community
District

Let us WORK TOGETHER on a SHARED CLUB AGENDA.

EDITORIAL
by Eric Wong
The induction of Rtn. Russell Halliday at the last luncheon meeting holds some promise and hope that the RCPJ is going back to the roaring 60s, as remarked by a senior member. There could be a few more who may join this fraternity of selfless ideals. What was evident in this new young member is his enthusiasm and commitment to serve for a good cause. The RCPJ indeed needs, so to speak young blood who could make a difference in doing things. As an educationist, I’ve seen young people over the years whose perceptions of good vary a great deal. We need to accommodate them. We must not be immediately critical.

To Rtn. Russell Halliday and Ann Angie Low, the RCPJ is proud to have both of you in our Club.
