PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The Club is the cornerstone of Rotary where the most meaningful work is carried out.

All effective Rotary Clubs are responsible for FOUR KEY ELEMENTS:

Sustaining or increasing their membership base
Participating in service projects that benefit their own community
Supporting The Rotary Foundation of RI financially and through programme participation
Developing leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the Club level.

What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it. And in that process, one must enjoy his or her Rotary experience.

I believe the primary focus during this tenure of Presidency will be in the areas of attendance, service, membership recruitment & retention and fellowship.

Attending weekly club meetings allows members to enjoy the club’s fellowship, enrich their professional and personal knowledge, and meet other business leaders in their community. If members miss their own club’s meeting, they are encouraged to expand their Rotary horizons by attending make-up meetings at any Rotary Club in the world, a practice that guarantees Rotarians a warm welcome in communities around the globe.

By participating in club service projects, we learn about our club’s involvement in local and national projects.
What we require is that we volunteer our time and talents where they are most needed.

To keep our club strong, every Rotarian must share the responsibility of bringing new people into Rotary. Even new members can bring guests to meetings or invite them to participate in a Service Project. The best way to spark the interest of potential members is by letting them experience fellowship and service firsthand.

To be continued next week

EDITORIAL
by Eric Wong
In the months of July and August, the 6 Interact Clubs of the RCPJ are busy with their installations of the new boards of directors. Assunta and Sri Aman have completed theirs. Bukit Bintang will be scheduled on Saturday, 21st July at 2.00 p.m. Following this, Sultan Abdul Samad on 10th August from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m., La Salle on 11th August from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon and finally Catholic High School on 18th August from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon. The Interact Leadership Training Seminar will be held on 4th August from 9.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Catholic High School.

Rotarians, we strongly request you to take some time off to appreciate our Interactors. They’ve been supporting our Club through the ICC Charity Concert. Your presence will make a difference. This means you care and they love to see other Rotarians who are not advisers to their clubs.

DIFFICULT QUESTIONS AND INTELLIGENT ANSWERS!

Interviewer said "I shall either ask you ten easy questions or one really difficult question.

Think well before you make up your mind!" The boy thought for a while and said, "my choice is one really difficult question."

"Well, good luck to you, you have made your own choice! Now tell me this. "What comes first, Day or Night?"

The boy was jolted in to reality as his admission depends on the correctness of his answer, but he thought for a while and said, "It's the DAY sir!"

"How" the interviewer asked.

"Sorry sir, you promised me that you will not ask me a SECOND difficult question!"

He was selected for IIM!

CLEVER WORD

Which English word is 9 letters long and each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word . . . from 9 letters all the way down to one letter!!!?
