PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The month of April has been a hectic month. It is for me as well as our Rotarians. First, the RCPJ Close held at the beginning of April in Tawau was a fellowship event. Then we organized the Golden Child Project at A’Famosa with the RC Tampin and the RC HK Island West. The following weekend was the 75th RI District 3300 Assembly held in Kuantan. The final weekend saw us departing for Hong Kong for the anniversary celebrations of the RC of HK Island West.

Though hectic, these obligations are really learning experiences. We learn how other clubs do things. We strengthen the bond of Rotarians. We understand our brother Rotarians better through fellowship. I must say that the trip to the RC Hong Kong Island West was something that our Rotarians will always remember. Their hospitality was unbelievable. They look after us very well. There was food, food and food, not forgetting the sight-seeing trips. I congratulate the club on their anniversary and also thank them for looking after us.

Our strong delegation included the following:

Kevin & Penny
Goh Seng Chuan & Nancy
Eric & Irene
Leong Yeng Kit & Fiona
David & Elsie
Kamarul & Jacqueline
Koh Kia Heong & Tze
Tarcisius & Yoong Fong
Michael Toh
Shashi
Yap Swee Fatt & Susan
Pua Boon Yee
Teo Woon Hud & Karen

Thank you RCPJ Rotarians for your kind support.

EDITORIAL
by Eric Wong
We welcome Rtn Rianne Chin and Rtn Kamarulzaman Omar to our Rotary fraternity. They were inducted this week by President Dato’ Kevin Yong. The presence of these two new and young Rotarians breathes fresh air and sunshine to our Club that has been dubbed ‘aging’.

We cannot ignore the younger generation today. In fact, we need to bring them into the fold and be part of the NGOs. These are the people who have new ideas and more importantly, the thinking of the generation. There’s always the tendency for older Rotarians to rest on their laurels and be satisfied with doing ‘the usual things’.

Our New Generations and activities are reflective of the younger generation. Rtn Pua has injected new ideas to the charity concert and the supercamp. Because of this, the demand for places in the camp has been competitive.

In the government of our country, the younger people are making an impact. They want to be heard and they do it via different means. We cannot ignore them. Instead we need to reach out to them.

So let us encourage our young and able men and women to be part of our community challenge.
